Ekam Foundation Mumbai, in collaboration with Lalitya Foundation, executed its impactful School Health Programme across five rural schools in Kolhapur district. From January 25th to February 5th, 2023, the initiative aimed to heighten health and hygiene awareness among school children while establishing Ekam’s presence in the grassroots community of rural Kolhapur.

Under the guidance of Dr. Nair, Medical Director of Ekam Foundation Mumbai, the program reached approximately 1200 children in Asegaon, Kale, and Kolhapur. Covering vital subjects such as toilet etiquettes, safe drinking water, hand washing, oral hygiene, and nutrition, the interactive and pictorial sessions successfully engaged the children, effectively imparting crucial knowledge. Throughout the sessions, Ekam’s team interacted with school principals, disseminating information about the NGO’s work and providing a helpline number for further assistance. To reinforce awareness, badges highlighting health and hygiene were distributed among the children, contributing to the program’s lasting impact on the community.

At a celebration to honour its donors and patrons on its 10th anniversary, Ekam hosted leading corporate leaders and doctors at the Taj Mahal Hotel, for a brunch, with some of its scholarship students who were awarded their certificates at the event. Gen. V.P. Malik, former Chief of Army Staff, highlighted Ekam’s role in providing education and health services to remote border areas. Mr. K.V. Kamath, ex-Chairman of ICICI Bank, emphasized entrepreneurship for girls through Ekam scholarships and leveraging technology for inclusive education. Ms. Ashwini Bhide, Additional Municipal Commissioner, discussed public-private partnerships for supporting underprivileged sections. Philanthropist Mr. Amit Chandra stressed the importance of giving for capacity building. Ameeta Chatterjee emphasized Ekam’s mission for better health and education. The event showcased Ekam’s impact and diverse support for underprivileged communities.

On December 3rd, 2022, Ekam Foundation’s Annual Beneficiary Event unfolded at Ravindra Natya Mandir, Dadar, Prabhadevi, Mumbai, resembling a joyous festival for our entire team, the little ones, and those who graced us with their presence. “Little Giggles,” a special segment, catered to the children supported by Ekam in areas of medical, financial, and educational needs. Attendees included the Ekam team, trustees, hospital doctors, and medical social workers, alongside individuals who received assistance for surgeries and education-related challenges in Mumbai. The event aimed to bring happiness and a carefree moment to children and their families who have navigated challenging medical journeys.

On December 4th, 2022, Ekam hosted an Outreach Event at Avasa Hotel, Hyderabad, aimed at connecting and empowering our scholars. The event featured esteemed guests including Pullela Gopichand, Former Badminton player and Chief National Coach for the Indian National Badminton team; R Chandrasekhar, IAS (Retd.), Former President of NASSCOM and Former Secretary to the Indian Department of Information Technology; Mr. Srinivas, CEO & MD, MTAR Technologies Ltd., and Mr. Anil and Jahanvi Chettri from Vishweshwara Hatcheries Pvt. Ltd.

Focusing on child welfare, the event sought to inspire and motivate our scholars while providing them with valuable networking opportunities through interactions with these distinguished personalities. The overarching goal was to foster a supportive community of Ekam and its patrons, serving as guiding lights for these scholars on their journey to independence.

On October 9th, 2021, our events moved online, adapting to the challenges of the pandemic. During the virtual award ceremony, we celebrated the achievements of our Ekam Scholars.

• Shri CV Kumar Scholarship, a prestigious award ranging from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 50,000, presented to outstanding girl students who have completed class 10th and aspire to pursue higher academic and career goals.
• The Unnati Ekam Scholarship Scheme extended support to deserving candidates in need of financial aid, offering a one-time scholarship amount of Rs. 21,000.

In 2020, our event took on a unique virtual format, featuring an incredible evening of virtual Tambola and captivating performances by our friends during the Joy of Giving Week in October. Despite the challenges posed by the global crisis, friends from India, UAE, UK, Singapore, and Germany came together to support Girls’ Education. Thanks to generous donations to the ‘Ekam Education Programme,’ we supported the school education of over 25 adolescent girls. A heartfelt thanks to all our supporters for making this impact possible.

On March 30th, 2019, Ekam Foundation Mumbai held the Braveheart Event at Price Hall, NSCI Worli, Mumbai, celebrating individuals who triumphed over adversity. We honoured one of our inspiring participants with a story of grit, accompanied by heartfelt piano recitals from five talented children as a tribute to our braveheart and an expression of inspiration drawn from her indomitable spirit. Thanks to our guests, donors, and everyone who supported us. Special appreciation to the beneficiary for sharing her journey and the children for their spirited performance. Together, we showcase resilience and community support, making a meaningful impact on lives.

To replicate the success of Ekam Mumbai’s program in West Bengal, in November 2017, Ekam Foundation Mumbai extended its Surgery Support Programme to Kolkata, launching the Kolkata Chapter with the aim of providing financial assistance for surgeries and medical interventions to economically less-privileged children in Kolkata and its surrounding areas. In just over eight months, the Kolkata Surgery Support Programme has positively impacted the lives of over 30 children.

To mark the launch, Ekam Mumbai hosted “Anandadhara,” a classical Bharatanatyam recital by the disciples of Natya Kalanidhi Guru Kalyanasundaram at Satyajit Ray Auditorium on April 14, 2018. This event, held in aid of healthcare and education for underprivileged children in West Bengal, received tremendous support from donors, friends, and well-wishers who believe in our cause. We express heartfelt gratitude for their continued support as we strive to make a difference in the lives of many more children.

A spectacular fundraising concert featuring the renowned santoor maestro, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, and his group of senior disciples. The evening showcased a mesmerizing blend of classical, light classical, and folk music compositions by Pt. Sharma, emphasizing the message of oneness through scintillating performances. We were deeply honoured to have Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma’s support for Ekam’s cause of promoting the health and happiness of children.
