Hospital Equipment Support

Ekam Foundation Mumbai is a registered charitable trust under the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950. Since its inception in 2013, Ekam Foundation Mumbai has focused its work in the areas of child healthcare and education in underprivileged sections of the society. We work as enablers in meeting the health and education-related expenses for financially needy children. Working in partnerships with medical and educational fraternities, our mission is to provide timely and adequate support to make health and education accessible and affordable to children, all across India.

Inspite of not directly being our mainstay program, hospital and school infrastructure and/or equipment support has become an extended part of our funding objectives for institutions which cater to the underresourced. Hospital Equipment Support (HES) was initiated to help hospitals take better care of their patients. Under HES, the Foundation works with hospitals within their network to provide hospital equipment, training programmes for medical professionals, and infrastructure support. The programme aims to uplift hospitals in need of improvement and upscale existing practices to provide better care for their patients. During the Covid-19 pandemic, HES proved to be crucial for many hospitals, providing extra support to our healthcare system at the time of adversity.

Our Work

Training of Nursing Staff - 2015

In 2014, we, at Ekam Foundation Mumbai, conducted a Nurse Training Programme for improved nursing practices as some of the doctors and nurses were interested in training for the Neonatal Resuscitation Program – First Golden Minutes (NARP). Ekam Foundation Mumbai team trained nurses and a few doctors from Ber Jerbai Wadia Hospital and LTMG Hospital. Accordingly, basic NRP for Nurses and advanced NRP for Doctors were launched in 2014. This training was especially for doctors and nurses in Mumbai and Pune hospitals and was conducted under the aegis of IAP (Indian Academy of Paediatrics).

Makunda Hospital Assam - 2019-2020

In September 2020, the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation, one of our donors, gifted high-end life-support medical equipment to the paediatric ward of Makunda Christian General & Leprosy Hospital in Assam, a hospital within our network. This hospital handles hundreds of cases requiring intensive neonatal care. The donation, which included a resuscitator, phototherapy equipment, warmers, and monitors, has helped improve the hospital's ability to treat infants with high-risk conditions promptly and effectively.

BKC COVID Centre in Mumbai 2020-2021

In response to the challenges posed by the pandemic, Ekam Foundation Mumbai sponsored five units of MultiPara Monitors for the paediatric ward of BKC Covid Centre. These monitors were provided as an interim measure to ensure that the hospital had the necessary equipment to provide proper care for paediatric patients during the pandemic. The MultiPara Monitors are essential pieces of equipment for monitoring the vital signs of patients, including their heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels. With this donation, the paediatric ward of BKC Covid Centre was better equipped to handle the increased demand for medical care during the pandemic and to provide quality care for young patients in need.

ICU equipment for COVID wards: Support story

To support the fight against COVID-19, Ekam Foundation Mumbai provided ICU equipment to six hospitals across Meghalaya, West Bengal, Assam, and Maharashtra, with a total support of 1.3 crores. The equipment was specifically intended for the COVID wards in these hospitals and aimed to help them manage the increasing number of COVID patients and provide them with the necessary care and support. The ICU equipment included monitors, ventilators, oxygen concentrators, and other essential items required to manage critically ill patients. With this support, the COVID wards in these six hospitals were better equipped to handle the pandemic's demands and provide quality care to patients in need.
