Kolkata Chapter

Kolkata Chapter

West Bengal is the fourth most populous state in India with 91 million people, a fifth of who are poor. With numerous pockets of high poverty prevailing within the state, accessibility to effective healthcare services remains a struggle for the majority of the population.

Though West Bengal offers free treatment in government hospitals, insufficient beds therein Lead to overcrowded hospitals, compelling many to seek treatment in private and semi-private hospitals. This choice however, is barely economical for most without financial aid. In continuation of our Surgery Support Programme and sharing the same vision as an outreach endevour, the Kolkata Chapter of Ekam Foundation Mumbai was initiated in November 2017, aiming at providing financial aid for surgeries and other medical intervention for children belonging to the economically less-privileged families of Kolkata and its catchment areas.
